- Software Update Option Not Showing On Mac Computer
When I open iTunes and iPhoto (and some others) I'm told that there are new versions/updates available. When asked whether I want to download them now, I click YES and it takes me to Software Update (as usual). However, when Software Update launches and searches for updates, it tells me that there are no new updates available. Here are the steps I've taken so far:
Reset manual settings (?? all I know is the Apple guy told me to restart the computer holding Command, Option, P and R I think)
Repaired permissions
Repaired disk (worked somewhat because it showed me the available updates but when I went to download them they said the server was unreachable and when I re-opened Software Update the updates were no longer visible)
Does anyone have any other brilliant ideas???
THANKS!
PS: The last successful update was on March 20 2010 with Safari 4.0.5 and a Digital Camera update.

Internet Options On Mac
On rare occurrences people may find that after updating their Macs the system will not boot. Sometimes the system will hang at a specific boot screen such as the gray Apple, or at a blank blue screen. The app store update (GUI as you put it) pull information that your mac has installed through the app store. It has no idea about system level updates that have taken place. In my case, I update iPhoto manually through the pkg file and I stopped getting update notifications through the app store and yet was able to update through the command line. Select the Typical option; Click on the Install button; Click on the Finish; After the installation, a user will have Apple Software Update on their PC. Repair Apple Software Update. If a user already has Apple Software Update, but it doesn’t function properly on their Windows machine, they should check whether the app is up to date.

Software Update Option Not Showing On Mac Computer
- Sep 26, 2018 Another reason could be that your Mac is running an older version of High Sierra (or Sierra, El Capitan, etc.), you should get update notifications but not related to Mojave. Instead, you were prompted to update to the latest subversion. For example, if your Mac is running under 10.13.2, you’ll be prompted to upgrade to 10.13.6.
- Pre-Mojave, you may be able to fix a stuck update by going to the Mac App Store, finding the software you are downloading, and pressing Option/Alt. When you do so you should see the option to.
